High Breadth of Impact
We are a shared resource as we invite performance project proposals from all sports in Wales.
The prioritisation framework is used to determine the relative priority of performance proposals against the challenges & opportunities posed by other sports and the contribution to creating a sustainable performance system.
Due to prioritising our support services, there will be some performance projects that are priorities for sports which we will not be able to resource and support
Athlete
This relates to a performance project proposal that is being submitted because of its potential to impact a single world class programme funded athlete. See our case study example in the 'Resource' section entitled Rehabilitation Services for a Cyclist with Knee Pain. The impact of this project was to return a world class programme athlete to full race competition following intensive physical & psychological rehabilitation.
Sport
This relates to a performance project proposal that is being submitted because of it's potential to impact to a single sport. See our case study example in the 'Resource' section entitled Winning Behaviours. Submitted by Swim Wales, the impact of this project is to engage athlete & coaches in behaviours conducive to athlete development principles and success on the world stage.
System
This relates to a performance project proposal that is being submitted to because of its potential impact to a collection of sports or all Welsh Sports (system). See our case study example in the 'Resource' section entitled Female Athlete Health. The impact of this project is to increase awareness and understanding of female athlete health, promote a more open and supportive environment to have conversations relating to the menstrual cycle, and identify ways to reduce the impact on training and performance
